The weather was wonderful, had extra special stay for 2 nights at the River Retreat. The staff were all nice, and the room was beautifully maintained and brand-new with comfortable beds. The offered breakfast was perfect with fair prices. The hotel's location was incredible, not far from local shops, restaurants, The Lion Rock and Pidurangala Rock Temple and a peaceful garden and nice water features.

We had an amazing stay at River Retreat! the location was perfect, just steps away from Sigiriya Rock and a short walk to Pidurangala. Despite being centrally located, the property was quiet and peaceful, surrounded by a shady and serene environment. the rooms were spacious and basic, with comfortable beds and private bathrooms. the owner, Ms. Madu, was a fantastic host who provided great advice and even took us on a wonderful safari. We were thrilled to see monkeys and frogs on the property every morning. the breakfast served was lovely, with toast, eggs, tea, and fresh juice. the best part was the wonderful WiFi speed, which was a bonus for us. We highly recommend River Retreat to anyone planning to climb Sigiriya Rocks. Thank you, Pravin Kalaiselvan!
Nothing not to love! 😊.

Our room was spacious and clean, with comfortable beds. the owner, Madu, was incredibly welcoming and provided us with invaluable advice on how to get to the rock and the best places to eat in the area. Thanks to her suggestion to arrive early at the ticket office, we were among the first visitors on top of the rock and got to enjoy the breathtaking views all to ourselves. the location of the guest house is fantastic, being one of the closest accommodations to Sigiriya rock, making it perfect for exploring the area.
I highly recommend this place for a memorable and convenient stay. Cons: Nothing at all 😊.

As longer term business travelers, we loved the peaceful and quiet location surrounded by nature. the clean and comfortable rooms were perfect for a long stay. Madu, the owner, was extremely helpful and provided valuable information to make the most of our time in Sigiriya. the garden was a beautiful oasis and the perfect place to relax after a busy day. the nearby restaurant, Pradeep, served the best food in the whole province. We also had the opportunity to go on a safari tour to Kaudulla National Park arranged by Madu, which was a fantastic highlight of our trip.
Felt right at home, nothing to complain about.

Tranquil and peaceful atmosphere with a beautiful garden and river. Delicious and affordable Sri Lankan food options nearby. - Helpful and friendly owner, Madu, who provides excellent advice and tips. - Opportunity to see and interact with various animals like monkeys, peacocks, and mongoose. - Madu's knowledge of animals and commitment to their welfare is commendable. - Organized and enjoyable elephant safari experience
Felt incredibly welcomed and had no reason to complain
